Frequently Asked Policy Questions

AB 292 (Stone): Signed into Law. It will go into effect January 2021, and apply to everyone in CDCR. Click here to see what the bill does and does not do.

AB 256 (Kalra): Turned into a two-year bill. This bill will continue in 2022, resuming where it left off.

AB 1509 (Lee): Held in committee. This bill will not be moving forward.

If you’re system impacted, you can join the Institute of Impacted Leaders, a 12-week program that will get you up to speed on how the policy process works.

We work on bills that directly improve the lives of our Inside Members and put us on a path to end incarceration. Many of our great bill ideas come from our Inside Organizers, or our community organizers out here.
