This is the beginning of our webinar series where we will educate you all on different topics related to our abolitionist work! Webinars will be hosted via ZOOM. Zoom is a free & easy-to-download app that you can access on a cellular device or computer. Once you download the app, you can video chat with anyone, anywhere!

This week we will be focusing on Changing the Narrative. A Narrative is a story that you write or tell someone, usually in deep detail. It is often referred to as the way in which we think.

In relation to mass incarceration, there is often a negative narrative that is told about our people and those who fall into the criminal justice system. We hear words like “dangerous” and “thug” to paint a bad picture of people who commit crimes. Sometimes these ideas are so ingrained in our worlds, we might even perpetuate them ourselves without knowing it.

We believe that we are more than these narratives! It’s important to call them out and work to change the way we think about mass incarceration and those most impacted by it. We can learn to be more mindful and teach others to show compassion when talking about these topics.

Join us WEDNESDAY from 6:30 – 8:30 PM to learn more !!!
