Initiate Justice Outside Membership is open to all. Join us on the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM for our monthly meeting!
This is a great opportunity to see what legislative actions we’re encouraging, to get connected with committee opportunities, and to be introduced to special guests and exciting projects. Member events begin with a welcome and acknowledgements, followed by updates and introductions from our Committee leads before diving into our special focus section, and then we close out the night.
We invite all members — new, old, and prospective– to see what we’ve been up to and where we’re doing this month.
Don’t forget – in order to become an official member of Initiate Justice, you must attend *three* member meetings and be active in at least *one* of our committees.
How do I become a member?
The short form version is: Attend three meetings and join a committee. All meetings are held on Zoom. You can read the full details of membership structure here: Outside Membership Structure.
Why should I become a member?
Our Outside Members are provided with many opportunities to significantly contribute to the work we do to end incarceration in California. Our meetings are often visited by legislators, so you can stay deeply connected to the mission. In 2021, meetings open to our members were honored to host: California Attorney General Bonta, California Secretary of State Weber, Assemblymember Kalra, Assemblymember Lee.
